Police Reports

Vehicle Releases

The Pleasantville Police Department releases vehicles 24/7 to include holidays. The registered owner or a representative such as a “power of attorney” must come to the police department to obtain a release. The involved party must provide adequate paperwork to include a valid driver ’s license, valid registration card, and proof of insurance. In the case of a “power of attorney,” the individual is responsible to provide notarized documents at the time of the release. Once all the requested paperwork as been provided, a document will be given to the responsible party to present to the associated tow yard for release. All tow and storage fees will be collected by the tow company in possession of the vehicle set by the ordinance established by the City of Pleasantville. At no time will any fees be collected by the Pleasantville Police Department.

If your vehicle was towed under John’s Law as a result of a driving while intoxicated arrest than the vehicle must be held for a period of twelve hours before it can be released. The exemptions to the twelve hour release include the following conditions:

• If the vehicle is not owned or leased by the person arrested.
• The arrested registered owner has given his or her permission to another person, the other person accepts the conditions of release under provisions 39:4-50.23(d), and person granted permission acknowledges in writing receipt of the potential liability warning form (39:4-50.22).

 

Fingerprinting
