The public relations bureau consists of the Community Policing Unit, Crossing Guards, Special Law Enforcement Officers Class II and Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III.
Community Policing
The community police unit is responsible for the community relations programs for the police department. Their job duties include ensuring that the outreach missions are meeting their objectives and engaging with the community. The community relations bureau uses media events, public events, and group activities to portray a positive image on behalf of the police department.
Special Law Enforcement Officers
Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III are the bridge between the Pleasantville Public Schools and the Police Department. When school is in session, the SROs ensure the safety of the students and the faulty. This program continues to keep strong relationships with the schools, community, and the police department.
Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II are part time officers with full police powers while on duty. They assist with the day-to-day operations within the police department ranging from patrol to administrative.
Crossing Guards are to ensure our students are protected while walking to school.
Training
The Training Officer is responsible for the following: Training and updates for sworn police personnel according to federal, state and municipal training that are mandated by the agencies. Firearms certifications, training, safety and proficiency, Field Training Program, instructor certifications, and continued specialized course scheduling.
